News Listings for June 11, 2018

~ Tomorrow sees All Japan hosting a show at the Korakuen Hall with two title matches headlining the event.

The main event will feature Kento Miyahara defending the Triple Crown belt against Dylan James. This will mark the first time for James to challenge for the prestigious singles belt, but he is though heading into this match as champion himself. As he holds the the World Tag belts along with Ryoji Sai. James states that he has nothing but respect for those who have come before him from the likes of Stan Hansen and Terry Gordy and he hopes to one day be considered good enough to stand among his predecessors. As for Miyahara, he is coming off of a successful first defense against Naomichi Marufuji, following a loss in the final match of this year Champion Carnival, and is eager to face new challenges with his third reign as champion. Miyahara acknowledges the strength and size that James brings to the ring, as the proclaimed “Saikou (highest)” champion in the world right now, though he aims to overcome all odds to be the champion that All Japan needs.

With Yuma Aoyagi making a successful return to the ring following in January, him and Naoya Nomura look to continue where they left off bef

ore by taking on Jun Akiyama and Yuji Nagata for the Asia Tag belts. This match was originally scheduled to take place on February 3 in Yokohama, but due to the injury the two were forced to vacate the belts which the veteran team went to win on the show. The up-and-comers acknowledged the role is now reversed heading into this time match and Nomura specifically wants to overcome the direct loss he suffered back in February. Aoyagi stated that he is full of regret for the issue that occurred with his injury, but at the same time he feels that the momentum is on their side to take charge of the current era. The veteran champion team have a proven edge over the youngsters and if they manage the defense it shall make it interesting as to who will eventually overcome them.

Then Jake Lee’s new group, which is currently unnamed, will be see him, Ryoji Sai and Koji Iwamoto taking on the currently established team of “Evolution” in Suwama, Shuji ishikawa and Hikaru Sato. Lee has made it that he is eager to face Miyahara in a singles match at the end of the month, but it looking to make it for even more if the champion can pull through in his match against James in the main event. Lee’s group already holds the World Tag belts, Sai and James, and he looks to bring even more prestige to solidify this new group’s position. Though this match will also be an early prelude for the tag belts as they defend against Suwama and Ishikawa on June 30th in Hokkaido.

Then also of note is Atsushi Aoki will team with Ishikiri to take on Yohei Nakajima and Ultimo Dragon in a prelude tag match before the World Junior defense on July 1st in Hokkaido. Though Yohei has yet to completely prove that he is worthy of being champion, Aoki finally accepted Yohei’s persistent challenge for the belt but he eager to see Yohei show his worth throughout the tour that takes place this month. This match could be the start that Yohei needs to prove Aoki wrong.

The show will be live on All Japan’s paid service with the results will be up on the site a couple hours after it is finished.

About BushidoRX

I have been following Japanese Pro Wrestling for 20 years now and I have also been doing some form of covering it either in news or results for nearly 15 years as well. I got my start in promotions like AJPW, NJPW, FMW and Michinoku Pro. With All Japan being my go to promotion till this very day. Throughout the years I have followed All Japan more closely than any of the others out there, and thus I have taken it upon myself to keep people informed with what is happening all throughout sport in Japan. If it does not appear on the news feed I either do not follow it closely enough to relate the information or it just not my go to promotion in general. Follow Puroresu Spirit, which is my personal site, as I do my best to keep you all informed with what is happening in the land of the rising sun.
