Outstanding Perfance went to YAMATO (DG).
Best Tag Team went to Suwama (AJPW) & Shuji Ishikawa (FREE).
Fighting Spirit Prize went to Katsuyori Shibata (NJPW).
Technique Award went to Hideki Suzuki (FREE).
Rookie of the Year went to Yuma Aoyagi (AJPW).
Joshi of the Year went to Io Shirai (Stardom) [3rd time].

AJPW NEWS

~ The early cards were announced for the first shows of the new year. As the back to back Korakuen Hall shows on January 2 and 3 will feature the Triple Crown in defense as Joe Doering defends against Zeus, TAJIRI will defend the World Junior belt against Kotaro Suzuki, and then lastly the World Tag belts will be on the line as June Akiyama & Takao Omori take on the Tag League Winners in Suwama & Shuji Ishikawa. Then on January 6 the Asia Tag belts will be defended in Nagoya as Naoya Nomura & Yuma Aoyagi take on Jun Akiyama & Takao Omori, which is a rematch stemming from the tag league.

LAND’S END NEWS

FG representative, Dory Funk Jr., and Ryoji Sai

~ It was formally announced that Ryoji Sai will be reviving the Asia Heavyweight Championship on January 21, 2018 in Korea. Kintaro Oki was the last to hold the belt in the 1980’s with the belt originally founded in 1955 with Rikidozan as the first ever champion. Sai has received the approval by Mitsuo Momota, as Rikidozan’s family was in possession of the belt, and Dory Funk Jr., as the acting PWF Chairman, to make sure the belt will be brought back in honor of its history and prestige.

A one day tournament will be held in Korea with 8 wrestlers competing from Japan, Korea, China, Mongolia, Singapore and Thailand. More details for the tournament will be announced at a later date.

~ It was announced that DJZ will be unable to compete in the upcoming new year tour due to a spine injury. This also means that he will be unable to compete in the previously announced X-DIVISION title match against Taiji Ishimori. Though Andrew Everett will not be challenging for the belt in DJZ’s absence.
