News Listings for June 12, 2017

It was announced that Shuji Ishikawa will be defending the Triple Crown Heavyweight belt against Suwama at the Korakuen Hall show on July 17.

Suwama has climbed back into the title picture after besting the former Triple Crown Champion Kento Miyahara in singles competition on June 11, and now finds himself within position to reclaim the belt. Though with that said, Ishikawa has been on a tear all this year stemming from his Champion Carnival win and then defeating Miyahara for the belt. Though Suwama currently holds a win over Ishikawa during the Carnival back on the April 16 show. Ishikawa stated that does not plan on losing on his second defense as champion, but he knows that Suwama matches up to him in the strength department. Though now, as the fighting champion, he as a new sense of responsibility to give it his all in every match and that means tapping until his full strength and abilities in the ring.

As for Suwama, this will be his first time challenging for the belt in 8 months, back on 11/27/2016, in which he last held the belt in February of 2016. Suwama stated that there are not many times that he faces guys who are bigger than himself, but with that said he shown that he can defeat him in the past. Suwama is still overcoming a right hand injury and hopes it is completely healed in time for the match. He does not wish to have anything holding him back for himself as he aims to reclaim the Triple Crown for his home of All Japan.

Though they could have saved this battle at the Ryogoku in August, these two will instead be facing off where they have numerous times before, at the Holy Land that is the Korakuen Hall. Who will emerge the victor between these two heavyweight monsters and then head into defending the belt at the Ryogoku Kokugikan on August 27?

About BushidoRX

I have been following Japanese Pro Wrestling for 20 years now and I have also been doing some form of covering it either in news or results for nearly 15 years as well. I got my start in promotions like AJPW, NJPW, FMW and Michinoku Pro. With All Japan being my go to promotion till this very day. Throughout the years I have followed All Japan more closely than any of the others out there, and thus I have taken it upon myself to keep people informed with what is happening all throughout sport in Japan. If it does not appear on the news feed I either do not follow it closely enough to relate the information or it just not my go to promotion in general. Follow Puroresu Spirit, which is my personal site, as I do my best to keep you all informed with what is happening in the land of the rising sun.
