AJPW NEWS

Following the conclusion of the Champion Carnival, the event cards have been updated for the shows scheduled through the month of May.

All Japan’s Director Takao Omori started off the press conference to announce the full event cards for the upcoming tour as well the addition of the main event for the May 21 show at the Korakuen Hall. As it was announced that the Triple Crown belt will be in defense as Kento Miyahara takes on, the winner of the 2017 Champion Carnival, Shuji Ishikawa. The two have previously met in singles competiion back in September of 2015. In which Ishikawa emerged the victor in that years Oudou Tournament.

In addition to that show, Kengo Mashimo and KAI will indeed be teaming together, after KAI’s request to Mashimo, as the two will be taking on the current World Tag Champions Zeus and The Bodyguard in a non-title match. Which the World Tag Champions will be first defending the World Tag belts against the team of Jake Lee and Naoya Nomura on May 12 in Osaka.

Hikaru Sato managed to recapture the World Junior belt and will be putting it on the line against the mysterious Black Tiger VII for his first defense on May 21. Hikaru managed to bring the belt back home after the last 8 months of the belt being held by an outside talent. This brings up to Black Tiger VII who proclaimed that a major conspiracy exists with All Japan and even WRESTLE-1 and that the pro-wrestling world is in danger. That he aims to save the entirety of Japan and become a champion that will preserve what needs to be done. That he would even join All Japan in order to protect it if that is what he must do.

Then following the conclusion of the Carnival, both Jake Lee and Naoya Nomura emerged with victories over the World Tag Champions. As the two will be receiving a chance to challenge for the belts on May 12. Lee has already challenged for the belts in the past, but this will mark Nomura’s very first ever challenge for them. The two acknowledged that the “Buig Guns” are a formidable team when together, but they are part of “NEXTREAM” aim to that they can work together as well. The two are very confident going into the match and are eager to finally hold a strong position within All Japan.

About BushidoRX

I have been following Japanese Pro Wrestling for 20 years now and I have also been doing some form of covering it either in news or results for nearly 15 years as well. I got my start in promotions like AJPW, NJPW, FMW and Michinoku Pro. With All Japan being my go to promotion till this very day. Throughout the years I have followed All Japan more closely than any of the others out there, and thus I have taken it upon myself to keep people informed with what is happening all throughout sport in Japan. If it does not appear on the news feed I either do not follow it closely enough to relate the information or it just not my go to promotion in general. Follow Puroresu Spirit, which is my personal site, as I do my best to keep you all informed with what is happening in the land of the rising sun.
