~ This year league is set to begin on February 17 at Korakuen and will run, a total of 6 events from start to finish, until February 26 in Osaka. The announced matches have been added to the monthly event cards.

~ It was announced that referee Kyohei Wada has suffered an injury following his participation in yesterday’s battle royal. He took part in a special top rope spot with Fuminori Abe, but he ended up taking a full drop to the outside of the ring without anyone to break his fall. All Japan announced that he will be taking a break from the rest of this month’s tour.

DDT NEWS

~ Daisuke Sasaki stepped forward to make the challenge, the match has been set for the 1/29 show at Korakuen. [1/3 RESULTS]

~ It was announced that Danshoku Dino will be out of action for time being as he is currently battling back problems. His physician has given him an order of rest and he will miss the the next of shows, at least.

Then it was announced, and approvedm that Keisuke Ishii will defend the All Japan World Junior belt against Yasu Urano on the 1/29 show.

~ A mini-tournament will start next week to determine the next KO-D challenger for the Saitama show in March. As Takeshita takes on Higuchi and KUDO takes on Tetsuya Endo.

~ Then speaking of the Saitama show on 3/20 a major 6 man tag match was announced. As Sanshiro Takagi will be teaming with Keiji Mutoh and Isami Kodaka to take on the team of Kota Ibushi, Jun Akiyama and Daisuke Sekimoto. This match will be a cross promotion with Sengoku Musou as it was called a Sengoku Commander Match.

NJPW NEWS [1/5 RESULTS]

~ Suzuki-gun made their return to New Japan after spending the last two years in Pro Wrestling NOAH. Minoru Suzuki and his crew cleaned house as they took out the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Kazuchika Okada, as well as the IWGP Tag Champions, Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii.
~ Suzuki declared that his army now has their eyes set on taking all of the belts the promotion has to offer.
~ Joining the group since their last time in New Japan is freelance wrestler Yoshinobu Kanemaru.

~ Juice Robinson asserted himself as the next challenger for the NEVER Openweight belt after he beat Hirooki Goto during a multi-man tag match.

~ Then Michael Elgin and CMLL’s Dragon Lee asserted themselves over “Los Ingobernables de Japon”. As Dragon Lee took out the new IWGP Junior Champion Hiromu Takahashi following the champions scheduled match. Elgin defeated Naito in the match as he further solidified his rightful challenge against the IC champion.

~ If things could not get worse for LIJ, they also suffered a loss in their NEVER 6 Tag belts in the main event to Nakanishi, Tanahashi and Taguchi.

NOAH NEWS

~ Pro Wrestling NOAH have moved their office from the Differ Ariake, which is set to close next year, to a new location which is close to Korakuen Hall. The office for Noah Global Entertainment Co., Ltd. will be located on the second floor of the Suidobashi Building in Misaki-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

~ All of the NOAH staff and wrestlers took part in a special prayer ceremony at the “Tokyo Daijingu” as they wished for the best in their new beginning and the year to come.

~ Katsuhiko Nakajima, the reingning GHC Heavyweight champion, stated that he looks forward to the match against Takashi Sugiura on January 7. The champion stated that he has been training both his mind and body through the new year in preparation for the match. As he looks for the best start not only for himself but for the sake of NOAH. To be the first heavyweight champion of this new era means a lot and he noted that Takashi Sugiura appears to be a different man as well heading into this title match, at least stemming from their title match back in October. Nakajima declared that 2017 will be his year, the year “Katsuhiko Year” as he has dubbed it.
