JULY 2016

[7/1] WRESTLE-1 – Manabu Soya defeated Yuji Hino to win the “WRESTLE-1 GRAND PRIX 2016”. Yasufumi Nakanoue and Yuji Okabayashi defended the W-1 Tag belts against Shuji Kondo and “brother” YASSHI. Kotaro Suzuki defended the Cruiser belt against Andy Wu.
[7/2] BJW & DDT – The two promotions came together for a special charity show in Kumamoto. The main event saw Yuji Okabayashi, Konosuke Takeshita & Daichi Hashimoto taking on Daisuke Sekimoto, Hideyoshi Kamitani & Kota Umeda.
[7/3] NJPW – Katsuyori Shibata defended the NEVER Openweight belt against Tomoaki Honma.
[7/3] DDT – Konosuke Takeshita defended the KO-D Openweight Championship belt against Yuko Miyamoto. KAI and Ken Ohka also captured the KO-D Tag belts.
[7/4] DRADITION – Mitsuya Nagai held his 25th anniversary as a pro-wrestler at the Korakuen Hall.
[7/5] NOAH – Naomichi Marufuji and Toru Yano defended the GHC Tag belts against Minoru Suzuki and Takashi Iizuka. Taiji Ishimori, Daisuke Harada, and Kenoh won the rights to compete in the “SUPER J-CUP”.
[7/8] ZERO1 – The first day of the “Fire Festival” took place in Nagoya. The main event saw Shinjiro Otani take on Yusaku Obata.
[7/13] FREEDOMS – Jun Kasai held a self-produced show at the Korakuen Hall. The main event saw Violento Jack defeat Kasai to become the new KING of FREEDOM WORLD Champion.
[7/14] AJPW – Suwama made his return from injury. Hikaru Sato defended the World Junior belt against Tatsuhito Takaiwa. Soma Takao came forward to make the challenge at DDT’s Ryogoku show in August. Takeshi Minamino also captured the GAORA TV belt from Yohei Nakajima.
[7/16] NOAH – Naomichi Marufuji and Toru Yano defended the GHC Tag belts against Katsuhiko Nakajima and Masa Kitamiya. The “NTV G+ Junior Tag League” began. Atsushi Kotoge and Daisuke Harada took on Kenoh and Hajime Ohara. Then ACH made his debut in Japan as he teamed with Taiji Ishimori.
[7/17] DDT – Konosuke Takeshita defended the KO-D belt against Tetsuya Endo. Endo aligned himself with DAMNATION following the match. Hikaru Sato formally accepted Soma Takao’s challenge for the 8/28 Ryogoku show.
[7/18] NJPW – The “G1 CLIMAX 26” began. The main event saw Kazuchika Okada taking on Naomichi Marufuji. Hiroshi Tanahashi took on SANADA and Hiroyoshi Tenzan took on Tomohiro Ishii.
[7/20] NJPW/NOAH – The “SUPER J-CUP 2016” was held at the Korakuen Hall. KUSHIDA, Taguchi, Kanemaru, Ospeay, Liger, Taichi, Kenoh, and Sydal all survived their first round matches.
[7/22] NJPW – The G1 continued as Katsuyori Shibata took on Tomoaki Honma, Nagata vs. Naito, Michael Elgin vs. EVIL, Omega vs. YOSHI-HASHI, and Yano vs. Nakajima all took place throughout the show.
[7/23] AJPW – Kento Miyahara defended the Triple Crown belt against Jun Akiyama in a match of the year contender. Ryoji Sai made the challenge for the belt. Yuji Okabayashi and Daisuke Sekimoto defended the World Tag belts against Zeus and Bodyguard.
[7/24] BJW -Held a big show at the Ryogoku Kokugikan. The main event saw Kankuro Hoshino defeat Ryuji Ito to capture the BJW Deathmatch belt for the first time in his career. Hideyoshi Kamitani with the upset over Yuji Okabayashi to become the new World Strong Heavyweight Champion. Kohei Sato & Shuji Ishikawa defended the BJW Tag belts against Akebono and Ryota Hama. Ryuichi Kawakami also made his return to the ring after being out of action for roughly 8 months.
[7/24] DRAGON GATE – YAMATO defeated Shingo Takagi to become the new Open The Dream Gate Champion. Eita also beat Santa Mariato become the new Brave Gate Champion.
[7/29] WRESTLE-1 – Manabu Soya and Jun Kasai bested Nakanoue and Okabayashi to become the new W-1 Tag Champions. Andy Wu, Daiki Inaba, and Seiki Yoshioka also took the UWA 6 Tag belts. Daiki Inaba also called out for a shot at the W-1 Championship.
[7/30] AJPW – Following a loss to Suwama, Naoya Nomura announced his desire to leave the “EVOLUTIN” group. Suwama accepted the young rookies request.
[7/30] NOAH -Takashi Sugiura recaptured the GHC Heavyweight belt after he beat Go Shiozaki in a special lumberjack match. Maybach Taniguchi called for the first challenge. Taiji Ishimori and ACH also won the “NTV G+ Junior Tag League”. Then lastly, Genba Hirayanagi formally announced that he plans to retire from in-ring competition.
[7/31] ZERO1 – Yusaku Obata defeated Shinjiro Otani to win the “Fire Festival 2016”.
[7/31] K-DOJO – Kaji Tomato defeated Tank Nagai to become the CHAMPION OF STRONGEST-K for the first time in his career. Taishi Takizawa and Kotaro Yoshino defended the ST-K TAG belts against TAKA Michinoku and Yoshinobu Kanemaru.
[7/31] Osaka Pro – HUB defeated Tadasuke to become the 30th generation Osaka Pro Champion. Shiro-kuma also beat Kuishinbo Kamen to win the Owarai (Comedy) Championship.
