MAY 2016

[5/2] IGF – A special event will be held in honor or Inoki and Ali at the “World Fighting Day” on June 26.
[5/2] FREEDOMS – Jun Kasai defended the KFC World Championship against Daisuke Masaoka at the Korakuen Hall. GENTARO & The Winger also defended the KFC Tag belts against Masashi Takeda & Kenji Fukimoto.
[5/3] NJPW – Tetsuya Naito defended the IWGP Heavyweight belt against Tomohiro Ishii at the Fukuoka International Center. Kazuchika Okada defeated SANADA as he then called out for the challenge against Naito. Yuji Nagata defeated Shibata to become the new NEVER Openweight champion. KUSHIDA defended the IWGP Jr. belt against Jushin Thunder Liger. Ricochet and Matt Sydal captured the IWGP Tag belts.
[5/4] NOAH – Naomichi Marufuji and Toru Yano defeated Archer and Smith to win the “Global Tag League 2016”.  Yoshinobu Kanemaru defended the GHC Junior belt against Hajime Ohara.
[5/4] WRESTLE-1 – KAI defeated Yuji Hino to reclaim the W-1 Championship. Jun Akiyama appeared in the W-1 ring as he called out for the match against Keiji Mutoh at the 8/11 show at Yokohama. Kotaro Suzuki also defended the Cruiser belt.
[5/5] BJW – Yuji Okabayashi defended the World Strong Heavyweight belt against the Ikkitosen winner Shuji Ishikawa. Ryuji Ito defended the Deathmatch belt against Masaya Takahashi. Daisuke Sekimoto and James Raideen defeated the team of Jun Akiyama and Daichi Hashimoto. This led to Daichi challenging Akiyama to a singles match.
[5/5] K-DOJO – Tank Nagai defended the CHAMPION OF STRONGEST-K belt against Kotaro Yoshino at the Blue Field in Chiba.
[5/6] ZERO1 – Masato Tanaka & James Raideen defeated Kohei Sato & Daisuke Sekimoto to capture the NWA IC tag belts. Shinjiro Otani also defended the Junior Double Crown against Tatsuhito Takaiwa.
[5/6] WRESTLE-1 – Kotaro Suzuki defended the W-1 Cruiser belt against Mark Haskins in England’s 4FW.
[5/7] AJPW – Atushi Aoki defended the World Junior belt against Kaji Tomato at the Blue Field in Chiba.
[5/8] GUTS World – Mr. Gannosuke defeated Daisuke to become the new GWC Single Champion. Guts Ishijima & Michio Kageyama also defeated the teams of Kenichiro Arai & Shota and Keizo Matsuda & Yuji Kito to become the new GWC Tag Champions.
[5/15] AJPW – Held their Fan Appreciation Day at the EDION Arena Osaka, 2nd Stadium. A special tag match was held as Kento Miyahara and Jake Lee took on Masakatsu Funaki and Naoya Nomura in the main event.
[5/21] AJPW – Jun Akiyama took on Daichi Hashimoto in their first ever single match encounter.
[5/21] ZERO1 – Held a charity show in Koshi City, Kumamoto. Following the earthquake that ravaged the area in April.
[5/21] NJPW – The “BEST OF THE SUPER Jr.XXIII” began at the Korakuen Hall. The main event saw KUSHIDA taking on Kyle O’Reilly.
[5/25] AJPW – Kento Miyahara defended the Triple Crown belt against the “Champion Carnival” winner Daisuke Sekimoto. Atsushi Aoki also defended the World Junior belt against Masashi Takeda. Suwama declared his return to competition in July.
[5/28] NOAH – Go Shiozaki defeated Takashi Sugiura to become the new GHC Heavyweight Champion. The GTL 2016 winners Naomichi Marufuji and Toru Yano defeated Archer and Smith to become the new GHC Tag Champions. Yoshinobu Kanemaru defended the GHC Junior belt against Hitoshi Kumano. Harada and Kotoge defended the GHC Jr. Tag belts against Kenoh and Ohara.
[5/29] IGF – Kota Ibushi competed in the promotion for the first time in his career as he took on Tanomusaku Toba. Masakatsu Funaki also competed for the first time for the promotion.
[5/29] DDT – The 21 year old Konosuke Takeshita defeated Daisuke Sasaki to become the new KO-D Openweight Champion. Actress and singer LiLiCo also captured the EXTREME belt.
[5/30] BJW – Kohei Sato & Shuji Ishikawa defeated Hideyoshi Kamitani & Ryota Hama to become the new BJW Tag Champions. Ryuji Ito named his own challenger to be Kankuro Hoshino for the 7/24 show at the Ryogoku Kokugikan.
