DRADITION NEWS◆ [7/4 RESULTS]

~ Mitsuya Nagai held his 25th anniversary as a pro-wrestling today at the Korakuen Hall. The 47 year old made his debut in UWFi back in 1991 and competed in MMA, Kickboxing, as well as pro-wrestling since then. He has competed in All Japan, New Japan, ZERO1, Real Japan, and DRADITION which he calls home.

~ The main event of the show saw Mitsuya Nagai and KENSO, known previously as Dark Kingdom, taking on the team of Masakatsu Funaki and Kengo Mashimo.

NJPW NEWS

New Japan formally announced that Hiroyoshi Tenzan will be replacing Satoshi Kojima in the G1 after Kojima willingly gave his position to him. It was also announced that the IWGP Tag belts will be in defense on 8/14 as the Briscoe Brothers will be taking on the BULLET CLUB team of Yujiro Takahashi & Hangman Page.

Jay Lethal will also be making his return to New Japan as he will be coming in during the Ryogoku shows at the end of the tour. He will be reuniting along with L.I.J. The 8/13 show specifically will see Lethal against Tanahashi and KUSHIDA who both have called out for a chance at the ROH World belt. Then NOAH’s Atsushi Kotoge will be competing on the 8/12 show as he will be pitted against KUSHIDA in an 8 man tag. New Japan made note of the juniors against one another, potentially leaving the field open for something in the future.

NOAH NEWS◆ [7/4 RESULTS]

~ The “Emerald Spirits” tour continued in Miyagi. As the main event saw a final prelude before the GHC Tag match tomorrow. As Go Shiozaki, Naomichi Marufuji, Toru Yano & Taiji Ishimori took on Minoru Suzuki, Takashi Sugiura, Takashi Iizuka & El Desperado. The match saw Marufuji going over Desperado in the final moments as NOAH celebrated a solid win over SZKG. This also led to Marufuji and Yano reclaiming the GHC Tag belts which Suzuki has held in his possession for this whole tour. They will now be walking in to tomorrow’s title defense with the belts around their rightful waists. Marufuji declared that tomorrow is the day that Suzuki-gun will end. Though with that said Suzuki’s “bomb” is still set in place. As he aims to disrupt Maru’s wishes to see the invading group finally gone from NOAH.

~ Katsuhiko Nakajima made it known that he and Kitamiya are seeking the next chance for the GHC Tag belts.


~ Rookie Kiyomiya also captured his first ever career pin-fall win, as he pinned Eclipse in the opening match. He stated that he is more eager than ever for the singles match against Suzuki, that he won the right to at the last Suzuki-gun show.

WRESTLE-1 NEWS

~ Keiji Mutoh announced that Kumagoro and Koji Doi will be joining him in the match against All Japan’s Jun Akiyama, Naoya Nomura, and Yuma Aoyagi on August 11 in Yokohama. Mutoh stated that he has great confidence in these two and hopes that they can carry the W-1 name against All Japan. Neither set of students have connections to the rival promotions, all coming in following the split of Mutoh and All Japan, which definitely adds to the dynamic of whichever leader has done their best to re-build in the last few years.

A Hardcore Tag 4WAY match was also announced as Minoru Tanaka & TAJIRI take on Masayuko Kono & Jake Omen, Jun Kasai & MIKAMI, and Yuji Hino & KAZMA SAKAMOTO. Hiroshi Yamato will also be making his return back from injury as he competes along with two of W-1 latest rookies to take on Tokyo Gurentai team of NOSAWA, MAZADA, and KIKUZAWA.

ZERO1 / Cho-Hanabi NEWS

~ It was formally announced that Ryota Hama will be competing in this years Fire Festival.

~ Then for the 7/24 in Osaka it was announced that Atsushi Onita will be defending the Bakuha-o (Blast King) Championship against Masakatsu Funaki. Funaki and Onita have been at odds since the on-going FMW vs. UWF was which has led to Onita calling out for a singles match against Funaki. Though on the 7/3 Cho-Hanabi show, Funaki appeared as he took out Onita with an electrified barbed-wire bat. Representative Megumi Kudo has announced that the title match will be official come the 7/24 show.
